How to Print Your House Plan Correctly at A1 Size
Practical printing instructions for South African house plan PDFs, including A1 printing, Actual Size settings, and why Fit to Page can affect scale.
Use the correct print size
Most architectural drawing packs are prepared for large-format printing. For best results, use a professional print shop that understands technical drawings and can print at A1 size.
Print at A1 size using 100% / Actual Size. Do not select 'Fit to Page', because it may affect the drawing scale. You can print at PostNet or any professional large-format printing shop.
Why scale matters
Builders, quantity surveyors, and professionals often rely on drawing scale when measuring, checking dimensions, and discussing construction details. If the drawing is reduced or enlarged by the printer, the scale may no longer be reliable.
Always keep the digital stamped PDF as your backup and use printed copies for site discussions, builder pricing, and professional review where required.
- Choose A1 where the drawing pack is prepared for A1 output.
- Select 100% or Actual Size in the print settings.
- Do not select Fit to Page or Scale to Fit.
- Ask the print shop to preserve the drawing scale.
- Keep a clean digital record of your stamped licensed PDF.
When printed copies may be needed
Some builders, estate offices, professionals, and municipalities may request printed copies for review or pricing. Requirements differ, so confirm what your local professional or municipality needs before ordering many copies.
